It's Friday

I was at the hospital by 9 this morning, Dad was sitting up on the edge of the bed trying to eat a little when I walked him. He ate a little farina (how the heck do you spell that slop?) and drank some Ensure which is good. He just isn't hungry and says he constantly feels full. He's lost over 30 pounds so I'm sure his stomach has shrunk too.

I had the nurses move Dad right into his chair instead of laying back down when he was done trying to eat. It hurts him a lot to move and we knew they'd want him sitting up at some point so we just got it over with.

Dad seems weaker today, and his breathing is very labored so they ordered a chest x-ray. His pulse-ox (sp?) was 92, they want it at 100%. They did the x-ray but we are waiting for his doctor(s) to review them.

A specialist came in to teach us how to change Dad's "bag". We watched a short video and than watched the nurse change everything step by step. Dad slept through the whole thing but Mom and I think we'll have it under control. The nurse said she'd do another demonstration next week for Dad when he's feeling up to it. Dad's incisions look great and the bag is functioning well.

Mom is still with Dad. Chris and Kim have the boys (including mine so I could go into work for a few hours) and they are doing some work around the house for mom and dad.

Like Chris said, Dad loves visitors, even if he just listens to them talk while he rests.

Keep the prayers up, Dad still has a long road ahead!

Thank you all for keeping him in your thoughts.

Kim and the rest of the Frank Clan
